What a Beauty

 

 

 

I have just recently been able to do a couple of newborn shoots.  And I am loving them!  What precious beauty there is in new life! 

This particular shoot went so smoothly and I had so much fun that it was hard to stop. I took over 500 pictures! (insert sheepish grin)

When we got to the part where I wanted to take a group photo of the siblings we had a little difficulty. Mr. E, the two year old, was full of energy and wiggles and the older two were anxious to get down and play.  At first it looked like we would have to let the little goober down off the bed and just take the pictures with the oldest two and their new sister.  But, Mr. E saved the day when he began blowing amazingly loud zurberts on his arm.  It was all I needed. From there on in it was PERFECT!  I captured them as they really are playful and full of life!

It couldn’t have been any better!

 

 

 

 

A Self-Portrait of 40

 

This weekend I turn 40.  A sad day?  I think not!

 

 

My days could have ended 16 years ago at the age of 24. My doctor told my mom I was a miracle walking. The Lord, has blessed me. Since that time he has gifted me with 3 more children, a move to the rural country side where I grew up, the opportunity to homeschool, the joy of capturing His glory in photography…. I could go on and on.

 

 

Most importantly He is calling me to step out beyond what I feel I am capable of doing. In the past year He has challenged me to serve Him in ways I had promised myself I would never do.  Our God is sorta humorous like that!

 

 

 

So 40 here I come! I’m wearing my laugh lines and creases like a badge of honor.  Society tells me to try everything it has to offer to get rid of them, but I say they are beautiful and they are earned!  I’m ready for another year.  Another year to love, serve, live, impact, and enjoy!

Our hens are laying very faithfully even on these bitter cold days. I love it when my son brings in the eggs and there is a speckled one.

 

 

Multi-Colored

Little Miss likes to dress herself these days and most often she is VERY multi-colored! Not to mention the myriad of colors involved when you start playing with Polly Pockets.  This is what I love about laid back Saturdays… just being able to play quietly and wear the most comfy clothes you have in your closet!

Tis’ the season for baking.  I made this Homemade Caramel Pudding the other day.   It was the best pudding I have ever eaten.

The weather here has been unseasonably warm for November and December. I was able to take my youngest son out and get some photos of him the other day when it was in the 50’s.  It was so nice to be able to take some winter type shots without freezing.

Nature

There is one lone Calendula plant hanging on in my garden. Everything else has been frosted completely off.  But, this bit of sunshine just keeps hanging on!

 

 

 

Vintage

I have a couple of vintage metal picnic baskets. One was my grandma’s ( yellow and black) and the one in this photo belonged to my mother-in-law, before it found its way to my house. I was going to set up a shot with the old books, picnic basket and apple, but then I had a volunteer… and I couldn’t resist!  So I have a beautiful little model showcasing my vintage picnic basket!

 

 

Whimsical (i.e. playful)

We have some pretty funny hens at our place.  As soon as we step foot outside they come to greet us.  I knew we would have to work fast before the girls got interested in what my daughter and I were doing. Six of them followed us out to the field.  Thankfully they got distracted by some weeds and began scratching around just out of frame.  Then we had one become curious.  She was just sure the apple was something for her to eat. She pecked at it a couple of times before she figured out it wasn’t the real deal, just a fake, and she strutted off.

 

 

 

Cooking

My men love mashed potatoes and would probably eat them every meal if I let them!

 

 

 

Weeks Best

It has to be one from this afternoons photo shoot.  It was sunny, unseasonably warm and I was hanging out with my favorite girl!
