Magnificent

One of the most amazing revelations of God comes to us when we learn that is is in the everyday things of life that we realize the magnificent deity of Jesus Christ. ~Oswald Chambers

Do you see God in the everyday?  Or do you rush through each moment, each hour, each day?

I’ve been guilty of rushing.

But, when I slow down, when I am still, I see God everywhere, in everything.

In the splendor of spring.

Capturing Movement

I was originally going to post this picture for movement…

But, then this just happened!  One morning this week she dressed herself in this outfit to do the chicken chores. I couldn’t resist grabbing my camera.  What made it even better is that she began dancing as I was taking pictures! Cracked me up and at the same time melted my heart!  For me this was the perfect set for movement.

Currently

We’re in love with our girls! The other day I was cleaning out the water tank we are currently housing them in. I give each of my children three chicks to watch over while I clean out the old shavings and put in new. My youngest son had taken off his work boots to cool his feet and two of the chicks decided to investigate it.  One promptly climbed up on the sun warmed boot and fell immediately asleep. The other was a bit more curious and decided to check out the inside of the boot. I of course had to capture it all with my camera.

Another Year of Heart Bursting Love

lauren-001

I know it’s cliché, but I can’t help saying it.

Where has the time gone?

My girl.

You are growing so fast. Time has made you more independent. It has blossomed your personality. It has allowed us to partake in this gift of you.

You make us laugh with sayings like, “I’ve got to get my hair cut.  My sweat-a-hardia is kicking in.” (That’s something akin to tachycardia which I had recently been talking about).

Your laugh is contagious.

Your strong will is frustrating and commendable. You know your own mind and you aren’t shy about letting everyone know about it!

Your blue eyes capture everyone. WOW!  So expressive and sparkling.  I see God in those eyes!  Keep on shining for Him.

Can a girl be more loved?

Your brothers dote on you.  Your Papa adores you.  And I just can’t get enough of you.

You are preciousness wrapped up in a long-legged, blue-eyed, full of energy, body.

You love God and ask questions about Him that astound me.  God has great plans for you. I pray daily that you will continue to desire to serve Him always.

You girl, are life!

Sparkling, bright, vibrant, silly, exciting, confusing, emotional, and absolutely beautiful LIFE.

God has blessed us so abundantly and I am ever grateful for the gift He gave me of you.

I love you with a heart bursting!

Scavenger Hunt~ 05/20

This weeks items: Rainbow, Fluffy, Letters, Metal, Tree(s)

I hunted in a rush this week and so I’m not totally thrilled with the quality of some of my photos this week. Ahhh, well this is what I’ve got!

Rainbow

There was not even the slightest hint of getting a real rainbow for this prompt, so I settled for the rainbow created from the prism hanging in my kitchen window.

Holy Smokes…

I’m either getting old, or I’m extremely out of shape, or more likely I’m both! :)

My body is aching, asking for mercy, begging for rest, and moaning with every move.

It’s this time of year, I just can’t stop. And I won’t give up!

There are weeds to pull. Beds to fertilize. Mulch to spread. Seeds to plant. Plants to divide. And new plants to drool over and add to my gardens (thank goodness for friends who have plants to share).

It’s definitely the time of year when I regain some of the muscle that I lose over the more confining winter months. It’s the time of year when I can’t deny that I am a weakling and I should really exercise during the winter!

I tell you what if hoeing the garden was a year round activity I would be buff! :) If removing sod was part of my repertoire I would have amazing upper body strength. If pulling weeds was a year round activity I would have less flabby arms and better cardiovascular health!

Anyway, you get the point! I’ve been busy in the garden!

lilies-w

This past weekend we got three LONG rows of corn, one LONG row of Green beans and a shorter row of Lima beans planted. We have about 6 more rows of corn to plant which we will do in 2 week intervals.  Plus I still need to get my cucumbers, melons, pumpkins, and tomatoes planted.  My spinach, lettuces, radishes and turnips are doing well. And I am especially excited about my snow peas which are doing really good.  In the past I’ve had trouble growing them….a soil deficiency, I think.  And my potatoes are starting to emerge from the ground. I was wondering if they would be able to come up since promptly after I planted them we got deluged with hard driving rain which succeeded in washing away some of the soil from the trench we had dug for the potatoes. Then more hard rain that compacted the soil. But, glory be…. they are peeking through!

soap wort-w

I would show you a picture of the vegetable garden, but it would feature a whole lot of bare dirt with a few small plants poking up…really not picture worthy at this point.

My backyard has a bit more to offer right now.  Blueberries are blooming and growing, strawberries are flourishing, blackberries are prolific, red raspberries are having their first good year, and my new grape vine is unfurling its leaves.

may 2012

Every time I step outside I am distracted…it can be really bad!  I spent 3 hours in my gardens yesterday.  I lost all track of time. Today…I MUST focus on laundry, and my writing assignment. I must, I MUST.  I will not even glance at my flower bed that needs some more weeding. At least that’s what I’m telling myself.  We’ll see!

How does your garden grow?

A Little Birdy

Last Friday I took a bit of time out of our busy day to stop at a park that is near our home.  We have been to this park many times, but I never have my camera with me.  Each time I drive by I tell myself that one day I will stop with my camera.

Friday was the day!

It was perfect. The day was overcast, but pleasant. Perfect for the pictures I had in mind.

It turned out to be way more fun than I had imagined.

goose-2-w

Thankfully I had taken some bread along with us, because these goobers were ultra “friendly”.  I had the boys tossing pieces of bread and kept reminding them to watch my backside! I seriously did not want to be goosed! Several times my youngest son and I had to make a run for it.  They seemed to have preplanned moves.  They would come at us in almost a “u” shape and we would try to back up tossing bread as we went and then we would take off running and laughing our fool heads off.

It was all good until we ran out of bread…then we had to boogey out of there.  It is amazingly difficult to run when you are laughing so hard. I’m pretty sure the boys would have ran faster if their ole’ ma hadn’t been lagging behind!

Keys

UGH! I wanted to photograph some old skeleton keys, but I didn’t have an opportunity to locate any, so the keys I found in my junk drawer will just have to suffice.

Smile

Three weeks ago one of our doe rabbits had babies. Around 3 weeks of age they start to come out of the nest box to check out the world.  They always make us smile!
