Scalloped Apples

This is one of my families favorite fall recipes.  There's never a drop left when I set this on the table!

100_3762

10 cups peeled baking apples (about 8 medium)

1/4-1/2 cup sugar- depending on tartness of apples

2 Tablespoons of cornstarch

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/8-1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

2 Tablespoons butter or margarine, cubed

Place apples in a 2 1/2-qt. oven safe dish.  Combine sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon and nutmeg; sprinkle over apples and toss to coat. Dot with butter. Cover and cook in 350 degree oven 30-40 minutes depending on how soft or crunchy you want your apples. You can also do this in the microwave. Cover dish and microwave on high for 15 minutes or until apples are tender, stirring every 5 minutes.

  1. This sounds so yummy....and not terribly sweet, which I like.
