Good Friday morning to you all!
I woke up this morning to a beautiful summer day! As I was stretching and rubbing the sleep out of my eyes, I walked out on our back deck. I was thinking of how peaceful and wonderful the morning was then I saw this...
Yes, these are turkeys, no they aren't wild. They are two of the twelve that we own. Some how these clever little boogers figured a way to fly out of their covered, penned in area. When I first saw them, they weren't being too clever, however. They had chosen to lay down quite close to our chocolate lab! She didn't bother them, but I'm pretty sure it was because she was tangled around a tree!
I woke up the boys and informed them of the escapees. We grabbed a bucket and filled it with their favorite treat, dandelion greens. As soon as they saw us coming they headed straight for us. I was so thankful! They came right up to me and started to eat out of my hand, so the boys snuck around behind them and scooped them up.
I'm just thankful we got a hold of them. We can't have our 4-H projects wondering off into the woods or grassy field to be eaten by coyotes. Not to mention some of those dear birds will be Thanksgiving dinner for our families!
Not all was chaos and excitement this morning. I was able to enjoy the beauty of God's flowers. Here are a few of my favorites...
Yarrow
Bachelor Buttons
Hydrangea
Butterfly weed in the forefront.
Daylilies growing along the fence in my yard.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
those photos of your flowers are gorgeous!
ReplyDeletehave a wonderful day...good thing turkeys aren't real bright :)

I would love to see your house and walk through your property...you have the most beautiful things to look at. How blessed you are!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the turkeys are back safe and sound. We had some when I was a kid and they scared me to death. I had to walk past their cage to get to the chickens to feed the babies, and I dreaded it everytime!
Nice to know we aren't the only ones chasing 4-H critters. Only ours are much bigger and have four legs instead of two.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
Have I asked if you could box those flowers up and send them to TN?? ;) Seriously, beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteWe have wild turkeys that visit us from time to time... they scare me! lol
Gorgeous flowers :o) I'm in love!
ReplyDeleteJeez, the turkeys remind me of the wild ones in Sacramento. That's right, there are many wild ones in a busy city. I had one sitting on a bench right next to my car just gazing at me lazily in the midst of a crowded parking lot :o) they aren't fraidy cats that's for sure!
Love the pictures hon :)
love the flowers! I think the turkeys deserved the bucket of dandelion greens for their ingenuity!
ReplyDeleteThose are some gorgeous flowers!!!! Hope you have a great weekend! And I hope your turkeys decide to stay put. That's too funny!

Turkeys! I didn't know you had those. How fun! And I'm so glad they didn't escape for good.
ReplyDeleteHydrangeas are one of my absolute favorites. I had the for my wedding, in the bouquet that my sister, my maid of honor, carried -they were that pretty shade of periwinkle blue. So beautiful.
Hi friend,

You own turkeys!!??? I didn't know people did that. Are they pets or did you raise them for a "special purpose" ie.. Thanksgiving dinner :)
ReplyDeleteNow that sounds like a country girl's kind of adventure ;O)
ReplyDeleteToo fun!! well fun to at least read about, I'm not sure how fun it would be to catch a turkey?
