I just had to share! Caleb (6) was sitting on the love seat playing with his stuffed Tigger. He was singing a little song about adjectives, of all things!
I turned to him and said, "Do you know what an adjective is?"
He said, " Yes, they describe things."
Amazing! Then I had him describe his Tigger. We came up with bouncy, orange, black, yellow and pink (nose). Then he started telling me what nouns were! Its awesome that he has retained this. We have a DVD called Grammar Rock. Its all those songs we 30 somethings learned off of the program called "School House Rocks" a PBS show in the 70's and early 80's. He and Jacob love to watch this and sing along. What a great way to help them learn about grammar! This is what is so special about homeschooling it is a learning "melting pot". The boys and Sissy learn an assortment of knowledge just by listening and sometimes taking part in each others studies. I'm glad I have the opportunity to teach my children. It is an amazing experience!
Homeschooling is such a blessing, especially when you have a moment where they really "get it"! Thanks for sharing your moment with us, and thanks for visiting my blog again!
ReplyDeleteHello*!!
ReplyDeleteI remember that show!!
Great story! I taught school for years and it was always great to see the light bulb "come on" in my students.
When it's your own children...melts the heart, doesn't it?? :o}
