O Tannenbaum

100_4083

This is our Merry, Merry Christmas tree which leans to the left!  Oh well, it hasn't crashed to the floor...yet.

When I was a little girl, my mom would buy each of us a new ornament each Christmas. I now have a box full of Christmas memories.  Now I do the same for my children.  Each year when we are putting up the tree they get so excited to see what their new ornament will be for the year.

Some of the other traditions we have are watching a children's video about Jesus' birth and reading the Christmas story on Christmas Eve.

We also celebrate Christmas with my husband's family on Christmas Eve.  We share a wonderful evening Christmas meal and then gather around the tree to open gifts. 100_4017

A new tradition that I added this year and hope to continue is having the boys read parts of the Christmas story, throughout the weeks of December, for their individual Bible study.  They also will be memorizing verses that proclaim the good news of Jesus' birth.

  1. One of our traditions is to purchase a new ornament each year when we go to the beach for vacation. (It's fun to think about the holidays when it's 100 degrees outside!!) We would always go to a little shop that I went to as a child. Unfortunately, that tradition was cut short when the store closed after 40 years in business. Now, we just look for new ones elsewhere:)

  6. I love this, Jenn, and hearing about the traditions that you do. We started the yearly ornament thing, too, but since Savannah isn't even 3 yet, we don't have that many. I suppose that time will fly and then I'll suddenly have a whole box full and she'll be leaving with them...sniff...

  8. Thanks for stopping by. It is a privilege to get to pray for all of those who have been lifting me up this past year!!

Love your traditions. We share the same tradition with the ornaments. Isn't that so fun to see them for the "first time" year after year.

    Love to you, my friend

  10. Even though it's the leaning tower of treeza (now that's just corny, right?!) I still think it's very pretty.
    Great traditions for the kids.
And those are some big stockings! Hold lots of goodies. :)

  11. LOVE traditions! When I was in college, my friend and I would buy ornaments for each other. We put them in our hope chest hoping that one day we would put them on our tree for our "family". This was a good reminder for me. Thank you!

    Pretty tree!
