Bestest Buddies

Last night as I was praying with Caleb, he broke into sobs. I asked him what was wrong. Through many gulps, tears and a bit voice distortion, I pieced together that he was feeling sad because of his current relationship woes with his brother Jacob.
He said, "We used to be bestest buddies, but now all we do is argue."
The poor boy was broken hearted and quite upset. Jacob immediately came over and climbed into bed with him. He gave him a big hug and did his best to make ammends.
Caleb managed a little smile and said, "Jacob remember when I was little, like 3 or 4 (he's 6 now), and we used to dress up like Davy Crockett? We'd sit next to each other and say 'We are pals'."

Well, I think the pals are connecting once again. They slept on their bedroom floor last night, snuggled up close to one another. Enjoying the closeness of brotherhood!

  1. I remember when my brother matured and quit playing with me. But, when he turned 16 and started driving he would take me for a ride every evening after he was finished working or hanging out with his friends. We would sing to our favorite songs and ride around the neighborhood. We are still close today.
    Sweet story.

  2. That is SOOOOO sweet!

And great idea to remind yourself of your homeschool reasons (in your previous post). I'd share some of mine, but you've probably read them all on my blog already!
