My Father's World

iow-NEW[1]

This is my Father's World.

O let me ne'er forget

that though the wrong seems oft so strong,

God is the ruler yet.

This is my Father's world:

why should my heart be sad?

The Lord is King; let the heavens ring!

God reigns: let the earth be glad!

Verse 3 of the hymn, "This Is My Father’s World" by Maltbie D. Babcock

Do you find yourself getting anxious about the state of this world? Do you worry about the economy, famine, war, pestilence? It can be easy to do if you listen to the news.

But, this is our Father's world!

Isaiah 40:11-14 says

He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heaven? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance? Who has understood the mind of the LORD, or instructed him as his counselor/ Whom did the LORD consult to enlighten him, and who taught him the right way? Who was it that taught him knowledge or showed him the path of understanding?

He is our shepherd. He holds us close. This earth is his he created it. The people are his they are his sheep. Our God is in control and He loves us and cares for us beyond anything we can imagine.

Why do you say, O Jacob, and complain, O Israel, "My way is hidden from the LORD; my cause is disregarded by my God?" Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak,. Even youths grow tired and weary and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:27-31

The times we live in are uncertain. Governments are unstable, but our God isn't. He is our rock, our foundation. He understands this world because it is His creation. His wisdom no one can fathom. So, when we are full of questions about the wrongs committed on this earth, we only need to look heavenward to see the Creator and Ruler of our earthly home. He is our protector and our guide. Let us rejoice and praise His holy name!

Today is inauguration day. Will you join me in praying for our new President and his family?

  2. Wonderful post. We may have been surprised and even disappointed that Obama was elected to become president. I know I was, but God allowed him to become president for a reason. We have to trust in the Lord. Although we have a new president, we still have our King!

  8. This is the perfect post for me today, I needed to read it. I get so anxious, thinking that God is furious at the nation and forgetting about his itty bitty followers. But nope, he knows every strand of hair on our heads. We need to give him a little more credit eh? Thanks for taking the time to write this beautiful post!!
