Nothing Extraordinarily Outstanding

I have nothing witty.

Nothing amazing.

Nothing extraordinarily outstanding on my mind right now.

What I have at this moment is life.  My life.  Rattling around in the rooms of my mind.

There’s the sickness that seems to continue to haunt us…another child down. AGAIN. The fourth round in 6 weeks.  I’m praying for strength. I’m holding on to God and I’m refusing to let this bring me down as it has in the past.

There’s school. Always at the forefront of my mind.  How can I make our days flow more smoothly?  How can I instill in my boys the desire to do their best and work their hardest in every thing they do? How do I help them see the importance of learning?  How do I impart a joy of learning and excitement of digging deep into subjects?

books-4

There’s this teenager thing.  I feel clueless.  Really clueless.  Like walking in a lightless room stubbing my baby toe again and again and again, clueless.  Thankfully I have faith in an amazing God. I know He will light our way through this time.  I may still feel a lack of wisdom on how to handle situations that arise and I know there will be heartache, but I have the Lord and He has us in the palm of His hand. I’m sure I’ll still stub my sensitive baby toe, but, with God, at least I’ll know what I’m kicking at.

There’s the usual household stuff.  You know… What’s for dinner? How did everyone run out of clean underwear so fast?  Why does the sink fill up with dirty dishes so quickly?  Who smeared toothpaste all over the bathroom mirror? Will somebody burn the trash already!

So you see, it’s not high and lofty thoughts that fill my mind, but the everyday, my life, my children, my schedule, my GOD that rumbles and twists and repeats in my head. Sometimes jumbled and confused and sometimes crystal clear.

MY LIFE.

  1. Oh how I remember well those tryin' teen years! Hubby had a sayin', "this to will pass." Geek soon matured way faster than our real problem child...Social Butterfly. She was a true late bloomer and didn't come into her own adult self until her late twenties. Oh, how I love a good challenge. Heeehehehhee!

Hang in there sweetie, it will get better!

God bless ya and have a marvelous day. I'm prayin' hard that all that sickness will leave your house once and for all!

  2. ((sigh))

    I hear you... Jenn.

It feels like a dizzy merry-go-round, most times, doesn't it?

I love that picure, by the way. Aren't you glad for hobbies like this -Photography: a place (or thing) to go (or do) that is only for you!!! Just YOU!!!!

  4. I hear you. A lot. This comment may show up twice because the first one was eaten, just so you know.

I'm so glad we can know that
    1) we know a Guy upstairs who has all the answers when we're totally feeling inadequate at all that whirls through our heads about life
    and
    2) even when we get it wrong, He make it right somehow someday.

    Peace to you, friend.

  5. Hmmm... sounds so familiar. It always feels like there is something to tackle or figure out... or least feel like you have a slight grasp on. Thank goodness we have an all-knowing God who knows our hearts!

  6. I agree with what is written above..."this too shall pass"...in the meantime, try not to go nuts!! As for normal...for me, that's a relative term. At one point in my life normal means one thing, a few months later it might mean something else! Keep your chin up! Prayers coming your way... :-)

  7. I agree with Bevy, I am thankful that I have my camera to escape to capture photos. It always does my soul good.

We have been sick for a few days here and I am comforted by your hope today in the middle of LIFE..

Praying for wellness in your home today.

  8. Ahhh! The sick thing. Check. The haunting "how do I get my kids to do their best and care about their education" thing. Check. I'm there too.
Oh, and what does happen to all the clean underwear???
The toothpaste on the mirror? I'll bet It "wasn't me" that did it!!! That's who does all of that bad garbage at our house. ;)

  9. oh precious mama,

i've been there. my youngest, who is 18,
called last night from brazill. she is helping
a beloved missionary family with their two
    young children.

her question was, "i'm just not sure of my
exact purpose here yet, but i love it so much
and know theLord has a specific ministry
    for my photography skills.

if you only knew the anguishing time in
prayer for when she was 16. please know
that the Lord will use you to defend and
protect your teenagers, but you will have
    to fight many battles.

    most of them in prayer.

after the battles, you will look up and
have four best friends looking you in the
    eye. i have five.

there are many older, wise Christian mothers
in blogland who would love to support you.

"bits and pieces", "field of dreams", and
"janette's sage" are wonderful! we all
    homeschooled, too.

    blessings,
    lea

  10. Oh I just read Lea's comment...how precious of her....she is a jewel!!!
Yes sweetheart, been there and still there. I wrote on young man walking...it is about my 14 year old...he is number 5! I wrote on Mommy is trying to ruin my life...after one made a bad choice.
I have home schooled for 22 years...so I totally know these feelings, and still have them while home schooling number 5!

Blessings....follow your heart...God will give you the answers and He is the one who is responsible for the end product, not us!!! He is the one at work in their lives, as well as in ours.

Enjoy!!! They grow so fast. And like Lea said, they will come back to you and you will see that all those years of prayer paid off.

One said, "Mom, thanks for standing toe to toe with me and not giving in." If he only knew how hard that had been. He is now studying for his LSAT...I wouldn't have thought at that time that he would even graduated from our home school high school....God is GOOD!!!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog...I was so blessed to stop by yours!
